  • A few from Heathers 13th...

    Hi All

Heather had her 13th birthday party at a local venue on Sunday evening, and the theme was 'Black & White'. I have to say, everyone who attended was brilliantly behaved and everyone had a great time.

I was there with my Ellinchrom D-Lites set up... and the girls especially loved it, they were all made up and glam so jumped at the chance of having some 'facebook profile pics' by Hevs Dad! hehe (sorry if that sounds smug!!)

    Here's a few...

Nice Portraits, I also echo Paul that wall is a excellent background, did you use the 14-54 for these ?

Thought I recongized that 14-54mm sharpness , again these show what a versatile lens. You done a excellent job John and looking at your facebook profile these photos dont even scratch the surface, you done a wicked job with all the poses etc. Its not just about clicking that shutter button, you seam to have the abilty to make everyone relaxed and have fun This can be quite challenging esp with teens as they are at that point where image is so important, I think you deserve a pat on the back, I dont think I could have coped

Re: A few from Heathers 13th...

Wow, many thanks Steve for those very kind comments - I can't deny that it's lovely to hear comments like this, especially from a pro.

It was always my intention here, that although I don't usually place all images from a shoot onto facebook, in this instance I always intended to. All Heathers friends use facebook, and wanted pictures for their facebook profiles and so I was more than happy to upload them to there rather than my own gallery. I have no intention of selling them to Hev's friends.

I have to say Steve, that every one of Heathers friends - boys and girls - had a great time, and really enjoyed the posing element of having their photos taken. Check Owain in the shot above; he and the three girls asked for a different shot, and so I suggested he act as the cool dude, and the three girls looked at him in 'idolisation'. They love this shot, in fact Owain himself has emailed me saying thanks for taking shots of him and his mates, and that he really loves that shot.

It was an extremely successful evening - from all angles, and most importantly, Heather loved it.

Just one more shot from the evening, one of my favs... again the girls asked for something different and I suggested looking into the distance as if on a ship. This is what they did... classic; one saluted, one used her hands as a pair of bins, and another used her hand as a sun shield. Luv it!

I'd use the word pro sparingly ha ha, I'm learning all the time from the great community here, but no problem I was impressed and I love the ship pose, quick thinking

Super portraits John. I am sure you are very proud of them (with great justification I should add). There is little more that I can add that has not been said before. Impressed? - you betcha

Thanks Peter, you're right, I admit to being very pleased with this set, and by the amount of facebook notifications I am getting (over 1,000 !) since uploading them to there I am guessing the lads and lasses like them too. So and so tagged so and so in your pic, Blah commented on your pic, Thing likes your pic etc etc. hehe.

I forgot to mention - I organised two prizes on the evening of Heathers party - one for the best themed dressed (boy or girl) and one for the best duo (partners or friends

Sounds like it was a fun party & what a lovely lot of budding models! I love the way you got the poses from them. The slate works quite nice for the backdrop with a very pleasing colour balance.

It makes me realise how much I've only been a snap shooter compared to what you've achieved here.

You deserve to feel pleased with these.
