  • UPDATE 4th Nov: Brecon Beacons visit... anyone fancy tagging along...?

    Hi All

Well, I know I mentioned this to a few people at the recent egroup meet in South Wales, but I thought I'd run it here too.

I am planning a Saturday or Sunday trip up into the Brecon Beacons sometime later in Oct or early Nov. I am going to visit either the Upper and Lower Neaudd reservoirs or the very much more remote locations of Llyn-y-fan Fach and/or Llyn-y-fan Fawr.

I don't plan on making this an official egroup meeting, but I am more than happy to have some company for the day.

Both of these locations offer stunning scenery; I've only been to the Upper/Lower Neaudd out of these locations, and I can honestly say that it is beautiful up there. I have seen images of the other location, and it too is stunning. I am hoping for some wonderful autumnal colours, and maybe that elusive 'lone tree' shot!

So, if anyone fancies coming along with me for the day, please let me know. I'd be glad to have you along.
    John

Great stuff Steve, thanks for the interest. As I said in my first email, I don't plan on making it an official egroup meeting, as this is just me going out for a few hours to one of two locations on a photo day out...

It will be a whatever the weather trip i.e. I'll be going whatever the weather... well, as long as it's not piddling down eh

I missed the South Wales meeting but I am up for this one - as long as no ropes and pick axes are involved !!

Let me know what date(s) you are proposing so I can get organised at my end.

Cheers John, great to have you and Teresa along - and I'll be deciding on a date this weekend and will update here accordingly. You can certainly use your new hiking boots on this trip John

I'd like to be "in the loop" for this one - just in case I can tag along.

Re: Brecon Beacons visit... anyone fancy tagging along...?

                        Brilliant Steve and Ian...

WOW - this is turning into a far more popular meet-up than I had ever imagined. I must say that the recent South Wales egroup meeting was a huge success, and a brilliant day was had by those who attended. All I had planned for this trip of mine was to spend the better part of a day up around one of the reservoirs in a wilder area of the Brecon Beacons.

As so many people are interested - which I must say is just brilliant... I think the better place to visit is the Upper and Lower Neaudd Reservoirs, which can be seen on Google Maps here.

It's close to the highest peak in the beacons - Pen-y-Fan, which can be easily seen from anywhere around the Upper Neaudd reservoir. It will obviously be predominantly a landscape/nature photography day trip, with typically beautiful landscape and nature scenery such as; reservoirs, damns, forestry, running stream, mountainous ridges and peaks, open heathland, birds etc.

Weather can be changeable, so make sure you have tough walking/hiking boots and a coat!

I'll need to speak with Jen before I decide which weekend I can head up there, so given the wonderful amount of interest in attending, I will post the date and further details of the trip later tonight. How's that
                        John

I have never been to this part of the BB despite living in SE Wales for 28 years. I would love to come but it will be date-dependant.
John, it seems like you have a gift for arranging get-togethers!

It's a lovely area Dave, and you'd be most welcome to come along. I can't believe - especially as you're a tog - that you haven't been up there!! As I said, I'll post details when I get home later today.
