  • Re: Has Theresa May shot herself in the foot

From what I'm reading elsewhere turnout seems high. Going to be an interesting nights viewing.

If you're going out to vote this evening, please be nice to the Tellers from whichever party they happen to represent. They're only volunteers trying to help whatever party they support (done that, been there etc.) and act under strict rules.

Now that is one we don't often talk about.

Suggests the younger voters are turning up at the polls. Good for democracy.

If Theresa fails, I can see her resigning. On the other hand if Jeremy fails, it will cement his position as party leader.

Absolutely agree sir. If the increase in turnout means the younger voters are turning up that has to be a good thing.

Also agree that if Jeremy fails he won't stand down. Socialists never resign.

Students at Daughter's university have held their own on-line vote, and to our surprise they have voted 99.9% Conservative, with only one vote for UKIP. None of the other parties got a look in.

I am relived that not all students are taken in by the promise of 'free' university tuition. Somebody has to pay for it.

Yes, my worry is that if Jeremy gets in, he will only leave No 10 in a box; rather like Kim Jong-Il and other 'Supreme Leaders' of certain communist states.

He certainly didn't take the hint from his own MP's that he was damaging his party's chances of winning an election.

I happened to be awake very early this morn and listened to a piece on the radio that reflected a very similar thing. Student class studying Politics (left wing Tutor). The Tutor (to his credit) told the students to go away and research exactly what Governments have to make sure most of their tax take gets spent on. Nearly all students came back saying most of the tax take gets spent repaying debt and most will vote Tory after realising that.

                Same cohort maybe?

Well, less than an hour to go. The exit polls are going to very interesting on the one hand, and potentially depressing on the other - but recent posts above have lifted my spirit somewhat.

I'm planning to stay up for the exit poll result on the tellybox then be in bed with the radio on via headphones overnight.

Whichever way it goes the people will have voted and we accept the result.

I'm sure they will, just like Brexit

Well, if it goes the way I fear Jeremy will solve the 'net immigration' problem single handed.

I just don't know how many Brits will be left to pay for his spending spree.

It's only a poll, but let's look on the bright side - we may have an NHS to look after us for a few more years, eh.

Indeed she has Harold. I was rather taken aback with the statement when she made when making her speech at her constituency count overnight 'we need stability'. Brenda from Bristol was right.
