    No
Not a rumour but a thought at what it could be...
Now, for me I would like Olympus to go for the press professional market.
    a 12 mp sensor-for low light
minimal external controls -pre set and go
yet another battery or the facility for 1000 shots before you need to change
    twin card slot
    what do you think?

    Re: Em-3

The drive for ever more pixels seems unstoppable and I don't see a return to 12mp as a realistic prospect at all, but improvements in sensor technology show no signs of slowing either, so there is no reason why the next generation shouldn't come with even better low light performance at 16mp or even higher. Better battery capacity and twin card slots would certainly be welcome in the professional market, but I suspect the most popular improvement would be even better focussing, particularly CAF.

      Re: Em-3

I think that the E-M1 and its targeting of pros as a lightweight alternative to their big guns is about as much as Olympus should do. The benefits are well known but to to go head to head with C and N is not going to happen IMO.

Whatever might happen & how soon with the next models, I can't think about that now because I have just been given the OK from my wife to get the E-M1 body (after not taking it last year when it became available for me to pick up) because Olympus is giving a $300 cash-back from today (it will have to be my next birthday, fathers day & Christmas present in advance, but I'm fine with that).

There's no way this would happen, for the reasons so eloquently given by Dave.

They'd only sell a few, most people expect a multitude of features you never use these days. Of course, I'd buy two.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Its a shame that it is an unlikely spec for a future camera.
I have just done the Shetland Folk Festival with the EM-1 and EPM-2 ... 16 mp and all boiled down to 1024 PX wide. Even print news can use an image that size
But then Olympus did produce the OM 3
