I also have the XZ-1 as a pocket camera. I did have the XZ-2 at one time, but it was that little bit too large, and I felt it didn't have sufficient advantage over the 1. In the right lighting conditions it's excellent. Beware - it's all to easy to knock the mode dial from your preferred position! Sounds like you're getting quite a bargain at £70!

I have the XZ-1, and it's an excellent camera. I use mine with a VF-2 viewfinder, which I find works better for me, but makes the camera less pocketable.

I didn't realize that the XZ-2 was significantly larger than the XZ-1, but I suppose the tilting screen must make a difference and it's surprising how just a few milimetres can make a difference.

I was lucky to be the only bidder. The camera is described as perfect working order but with paint rubbed off at the edges, which I don't mind at all. It may have deterred other bidders as there are quite a few in better condition listed on ebay at present. Of course, it won't be until I see it that I know how "lucky" I've been, but the seller does have a large 100% feedback.

The V-F2 would make it too large a package for me. Composing on the screen, particularly in bright light, certainly won't be ideal (I've been there with the Pens) but it's worth some compromises just to have a camera with me more often.

Also the XZ-2 is 75 grams heavier, which does make a difference in a pocket.

Incidentally, I bought a proprietary stick-on grip for my XZ-1 (similar to but much cheaper than a Franiec) which makes a world of difference in handling.

I also have a stick-on grip (by Flipback), and as you say, it does make a big difference to the handling. I also had a JJC Open/Close Lens Cap, but later changed it for the neater Olympus one.

I hope you enjoy the XZ-1 as pocket camera. For myself I went for the Stylus 1 for the zoom range (10.7 X) with a reasonably bright lens, but it is obviously bigger (E-M5 size basically with a flat pancake lens). It's still proving itself useful (& should double with the E-M5 + 75-300 lens at the IronFest in Lithgow tomorrow).

Sounds like a good win . I have an XZ-10 though and while the IQ is not quite up to the E-M5's standards it's perfectly OK for A4 prints, and the camera's delightfully compact and (mostly) easy to use .

It was certainly a hard decision because the XZ-10 is such a great little package and very well specified.

Stephen and Stewart, thanks for the tip about the grip. I'll see how I get on with the camera but I suspect a grip would be very useful for me.

I've recommended the xz1 to a friend in the past and she was so impressed with it that her dad bought one as we'll. He's quite a switched on tech guy and has been really pleased with it too. So although I don't have one myself I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed especially at that price.

It arrived today and I've had a quick play, mainly concentrating on learning how to operate it. Initial impressions are very favourable.
