Yes, and we got to hear in Australia how she is from a couple of radio DJ's that phoned the hospital.

BBC News - Two presenters on the Sydney-based radio station are reported to have convinced staff they were the royals, were connected to the duchess's private nurse in the early hours of Tuesday morning and given an update on her condition.

        Re: Only in England!

Remembering an occasion a few years back I was stopped by much snow when intending to drive to Linn of Dee to park the car and spend a few days in the Cairngorms. We decided to backpack the whole way from Braemar to the Linn on the road as our day 1 and were surprised and shamed by local wives in small cars (not 4x4) driving without concern along this winding and steep in places mountain road. Should we engage the help of Highland wives to train our English bus drivers?

My new friends on the Subaru forum are amusing:

Someone mentions they have a few inches of snow in Northumberland. You might be expecting sympathy or concern. But no, there's a load of replies straight away like:

          Cool: How deep is it?
How far south will it get? Ooh, I hope it gets down as far as Watford.
Doh, I'm stuck in Belgium - I bet it's all gone by the time I get back

You see, we scooby drivers already have our winter tyres on. What can possibly go wrong?

                Re: Only in England!

In Ontario the police will close roads in severe conditions. If you get caught driving on a closed road you can get a ticket and if you have an accident your insurance doesn't cover you because you shouldn't have been on the road.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Yes, but "severe" in England is something quite different from "severe" in Ontario.

Reminds me of my hillwalking days when we would purposely drive north for the weekend if snow was forecast, the heavier the better. Those really were the days!

They only close the roads in Ontario when either the ploughs (plows in North America) can't keep the roads open or in white out conditions when it's not safe for the ploughs to be on the roads.

I'm a Forrester driver myself, but my wife brought snow back on her car (Honda CRV) even after driving for 45minutes, which fell at a late time of the year & something that only rarely happens in our part of the world, but the highway was closed for the day across the top of the Blue Mountains (west of Sydney) & this was the middle of spring too. Here's a couple of photos to show, as this does not happen very often.

We will be thinking of you all this weekend as temperatures will be around the 30 degree mark here.
