  • Photo envy

For the past 10 days I've been getting text messages about geomagnetic storms and auroral displays. And for the past 10 days the night sky has been obscured by a thick blanket of cloud.
Some pictures have been posted on Flickr from Shetland just to rub in what we've been missing..

The saving grace is that they were taken with an Oly e-620.

Some great images of the Northern Lights!
I too have had alerts through today and I just went for a drive away from the streetlights but there is nothing doing here, even though the sky is fairly clear

I have another problem seeing those northern lights.

The last lunar eclipse was all happening behind clouds for me too.

Quick trip acrosss the Bass Strait should do the trick for you Ross:
Aurora australis 28th May 2011 See all the photos here: somedaywewillsleep.com/aurora-australis/

although of course they won't be the Northern Lights.

Looks quite impressive too. I know one or two friends that have been south & we hear of chartered trips there, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of trip.
