Paul, I've been trying to get this to work off and on for a year or so and failed miserably on XP SP3 with all the latest bells & whistles.
Ian started a thread on it a while ago, and from what I remember, no-one got it to work on XP.
I've checked the various versions I've downloaded from a variety of Oly sites; all have the same digital signature & time stamp (10 March 2009 05:43:45), so I think there's only the one version of the codec in the wild.
Orfshell from HERE works with Oly thumbnails when viewing from Internet Explorer, but does not preview when viewed as a filmstrip.
i.e. you can see the thumbnail along the bottom, but get no preview available when you select it.
DPMagic, claims to work up to E-520, but I've not tried it.

I've downloaded and installed the 64 bit vesion - I've got win7 64 bit. When I view thumbnails it's fine but if I want a full screen image by double clicking the thumbnail I get a message popup in the centre of the full screen image with a clock and the word loading. This takes some 2-3 minutes to go away. Do you get this?
Works for me in Win7 64bit too, if you install Picasa you can view the RAW files as images by double clicking on the thumbnails in Windows Explorer :-)

It also does slideshows and can create a slideshow exe if you wish, can create a web gallery of your pictures, crops, filters, flips, slices, dices and generally does all the simple stuff that you wouldn't perhaps use Photoshop for. A great and free program.

It won't work - the version of explorer in XP is not codec aware and you need other appliications that are to use codecs on XP
I use this codec inside Imatch and it works fine, but not in explorer
