  • macOS Sequoia upgrade from Sonoma - any issues?

I’m finally thinking of upgrading to this latest version of MacOs, has anyone had any issues with it?

I put it off for a while as CaptureOne didn’t officially have support but it does now.

I’m not convinced it has any useful new features, Apple seems to push a lot of emoji rubbish looking at the latest update - I thought that was for phones!

It went on my 16" M2 Max MacBook Pro without any problems, but it "bricked" my 2018 6-Core Intel Core i7 Mac Mini, which necessitated a visit to the local Apple "Genius Bar". It is now working well.

Advice:- Disconnect all external hard disk drives and eGPUs before you update.

As far as I can tell no problems , bar it doesn’t gel with my msn e.mail addy but seems to have settled down after a couple of days .. my lad did demonstrate the Ai functions on it to me but running that side by side with my photoshop one proved it to be rather crude compared to PS

My new computer came with it already installed but I had to update to Sequoia 15.2 yesterday and that went without any problems. I also updated my 'old' Intel iMac too without any hassle. I haven't noticed any groundbreaking new features in the software!

Thanks everyone, I have now updated with no issues. Yes, disconnecting drives etc is always a good idea.

Now playing spot the difference. I like the Sequoia tree screen backdrop for starters, it reminds me of some memorable trips to California!

I have just found one nice new feature in the updated software: 'Quick Look'. If you click on a file and press the space bar it gives you a preview of the file's contents. That looks quite useful.

I've just bought a new imac M4 using Sequoia 15.2. I've installed OM Workspace (version 2.3.3) which seems to work with editing etc. However when I connect my OM-1 using the USB-C cable, I get an error message saying I need to enable loading from OM DIgital Systems. I'm wanting to back up my custom settings on the mac. I've gone in to System Settings - Privacy & Security- Files & Folders, then OM Workspace (with a subheading for full disk access) but both of these are greyed out. Can anyone using Sequoia on a silicon powered mac help please? The camera shows up in the finder so it is definitely connected. I need to change a setting in the mac but can't see how to do it. Any help please?

Sorry this is slightly off topic but hopefully will be seen as a Sequoia issue.

No help at all for you Chris but I have exactly the same problem with my M4 iMac. I am going round and round in circles but can't work out how to allow access for Workspace. I hope somebody comes up with a solution. Thanks for pointing out the issue.

Thanks for confirming your experience matches mine. Not sure if that's good news or not! I'm sure someone will have a workaround. Let's wait and see ...........

I agree, I dislike anything from that company.

I have been using it for ages. No issues whatsoever, it just works.

It seems the Mac/Windows wars never end for some.
I love how Microsoft cared for their W10 users when they introduced W11. No pressure to buy a new computer, of course.
Eh Oh, what a world we live in.

Like Windows 10 support/security updates ends on Oct 2025.

Everything of mine (2 desktop and 1 laptop) does not support that Win11.

No one needs to buy a New Computer if they don't want to. PS6 is still available. The New Photoshop with the New IA will not work with my NVIDIA 1660 Super so I just rolled back one that works. I for one do not need any new Stupid AI...As For MAC, Well my friend had to buy the New Mini2 with Updates to get his Photoshop to Work ln middle of last year. As for my Older Win 10 PC I can not update to Win 11 so MicroRubbish says but I can, I did, n Hated it. Now back to Win 10. Only Win 11 I got is on my New Laptop and that I have to sort out so I can UNTICK the SPY Boxes so Micro will NOT have it as Their Laptop, It Is MINE.

My post was seeking assistance, echoed by Ron. We are both wanting to resolve the issue I highlighted. I didn't post the question as a starter for a debate on the merits, or otherwise, of either operating system. Both have their faults. Can anyone say if they had the same problem and how it was resolved please.

I am just wondering whether this is related to a similar problem which I had with my M2 MacBook. This is how OM System posted a fix:

Ah I was thinking the same Larry as I previously had to follow that OM solution. My MacOS update to Sequoia didn't stop it working which was a surprise as I'm sure things didn't work after MacOS updates before.
