                I've see reports that the focus speed is not very different between SWD and non-SWD versions.

                      Just spotted this on the dpreview site:

                      "Someone tested the 50-200 SWD against the old 50-200 on an E3 or E5 and found the lenses had the same focus speed using SAF. It only appears faster because instead of a long 'whooosh' it goes 'zip' but then does a hundred micro adjustments."

                      It's in this thread (second from last post):

                        Thanks for that Jim. That whole thread is generally an interesting read. Does make me wonder if the non SWD version would fulfill my needs and at a cheaper price.
