It looks like Shigemi Sugimoto, who was a senior figure in the Olympus Imaging division, and moved to OM Digital Solutions at the time of the acquisition by Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) in 2020, has taken over as the majority shareholder (Olympus retained 5%). He is now in control, without being shackled by JIP.
I'd guess that to do this he must have raised some capital to buy a controlling share. Basically, it's a management buyout. This usually means the management are highly confident that they can make a success of their company.
My interpretation is that after 6 years, JIP's job is done and Sugimoto's job is to lead the leaner, more focused, and more efficient company into its next stage of development. It could also mean that JIP is no longer in danger of dismantling the company.
Sugimoto is credited with driving through the development of key Olympus products, is a technically savvy executive you might describe as a 'fan' of Micro Four Thirds, and has shown a lot of hard core commitment over the years.
The news is clear that there will be no immediate changes in the day-to-day operations of OM Digital Solutions.
I hope this means the company can move on and introduce the rumoured new body and other additions to the product range.
