Have you seen any Complaints about OOF for Olympus OM1 mk2 since last firmare update for 50-200 expensive lens??? Thinking back since before that update My focus was for me normal. Since then too many out of focus shots. Even got some OOF today on the 12-100 f4 and 90mm Macro.

Nope. I never bothered with the last (2) updates. Not heard of anything either... -

There's no such update so the chances of anyone having a problem caused by said non-existent update are rather slim. There WAS an update for the OM-1 Mk 1 which, as we know, had other issues. I'm still on 1.7 on my OM-1 Mk1 and the 50-200/f2.8 behaves flawlessly except that I can't shoot at 50FPS because the camera doesn't know that the lens is capable of operating that fast. Cheers Mark..Will let you know if we need to meet OK. Must try myself to see if it is Me or the Gear. Stopped the focus point moving around but not yet tried it for birding.

Not officially. But it is possible to apply any firmware version via the SD card. There used to be a web site which gave links to the various firmware files but it went inactive when everything moved from Olympus to OM. There was a DPR thread posted a week or two ago where someone has discovered the new URLs for the firmware files on OMs site. I've used the method in the past to update Olympus cameras and it worked fine although you will lose all of your settings IRC. It seems unlikely that it was the update but stranger things have happened. You might browse a few other forums and see if any mention of this problem is being discussed. You could also try backing up all your settings and then do a full reset of your camera. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of this.Comment

Hi joe_T, Yes I have done that and a few have experienced the same. Not many, but a few. I'm making sure my exposure is not to low even if I have to go over iso 6400. Off out Sunday to try things out again.Comment

Dennis don’t sell all your gear as it’s probably down to user error , but you need to calm down and go back to basics .so why not do as I did ,buy a used DSLR the top of the range models are pretty cheap these days and a couple of lenses again now’s the time to buy and just enjoy taking photos again ,, I tend to prefer using my Nikon set up these days but always have the Olympus ready for when the going gets hard I.e failing light etc .. I don’t get as many keepers but do get a good percentage of good shots I.e see my latest stonechat .
Mirrorless is very good but it’s also as we now know full of complex programs which can at times make it hard going . Up to you but knowing your problems it’s probably the best option

Hi Jeff--My good friend in club said same thing as you. I will stick with Oly but as you said 'I might buy a Canon + 1 lens. We shall see.
Harold, I have already done a Factory reset once so don't think I need to do it again.. Some I think is stupidity on my part. My memory not so good these days. Went out to take some Fungi shots and anything else I could find with a Flash gun so some were OOF because speed was to low. From now on, my tiny little oly flash will always be in my pocket just in case I need it. As for the Birding I'm sure I will conquer it with the Help from all of you in this Forum. Thank You Harold and Jeff. Time for me to calm down. lolComment

Dennis now is the time to buy , I have noticed a trend in that quite a few serious users are going back to DSLR use . The prices are extremely low at the moment ,I’m currently looking at another Nikon FF body which cost 3k + when new ,can now be bought for between £400-£600 and if you ignore e.bay and buy via the likes of Wex you also get a years warranty .
