It is now possible to update Olympus Workspace to OM Workspace. Just launch Olympus Workspace and open the dropdown Help menu. Click on 'Update Software' and follow the instructions. Once OM Workspace is installed it is possible to download a free AI Noise Reduction program. I have installed it but haven't tried it yet.
And a suitable GPU. My old MacBook Pro is running macOS 10.15.7, but doesn't have the minimum 2GB of VRAM. It won't install.
My Mac Mini is running macOS 12.2.1 and has an Blackmagic eGPU with 8GB VRAM. It installed on that machine without any problems.
It is free but won’t work on my Mac Mini without a £500 external GPU like griffjg has. I already spent £58 on DxO PureRaw which does work. I wonder how it compares?
So now I have to get a new Mac and a new camera 🤣
this is one of the questions going round in my head bill , can I justify a new camera and will it then take more computer power than I currently have .. and t.b.h with this winters weather up here is it really needed .. at the moment the winds getting stronger every minute
I installed the new version of Workspace last night but had an issue, it wouldn't start. I ended up having to reinstall the graphic card driver due to a missing opencl.dll file.
That got me up and running but I can't see anything about the AI NR software, is it only available to Mac users?
This is from OM Workspace overview :Note that data matching the camera and program must be downloaded from OM Workspace in the [Help] menu > [Download AI Noise Reduction]. It downloaded on my Mac without any issue.
It is pretty much the same. But be warned - it is a huge download! The program is over a gigabyte, and there are two optional data packs. I didn't note the exact sizes but the one for E-M1 Mk II and II and E-M1X was about 350Mb and for the OM-1 is about 450Mb.
I'm disappointed the AI Noise feature doesn't support AMD graphics cards, there are a lot of them out there.
Perhaps they will add support for AMD and the latest Intel Iris Xe graphics.
I'm also disappointed that although the new version of Workspace downloaded quickly, I can't install the AI pack because my graphics card is Intel, not Invidia.
My laptop has an i5 8th Gen 64bit CPU, 8gb RAM, 75GB available disk space, running on Win 10 - so in every other aspect other than the graphics card, it should be able to handle the new OM Workspace version just fine.
I have just been trying to edit a raw file in Workspace but I still can't get my head around how to use it. It still seems to be rather laggy and when I move a slider it is three or four seconds before anything happens to the image. I will stick with Affinity Photo for editing and just use Workspace to import and store the files from my camera.
Forget the AI noise reduction bit, I can't even install OW 2.0. I'm currently running OW 1.5 on a 16GB Intel i7 with NVidia GTX 770M (3GB) and get "Current software is in latest version available to your PC. No updates available.". Perhaps it is because I am still on Window 8.1. did try to update to W10 years ago and the update kept freezing and wouldn't proceed - probably didn't like some driver or the other that I had installed. I think I could do it with a fresh install but that would mean re-installing all my apps from scratch. Anyway I much prefer W8.1 and think this is the best iteration since NT4. Luckily I don't need to install OW2.0 as I will not be buying the OM-1 but if and when a new E-M5 comes out with the new sensor then I will have to re-evaluate if OW 1.5 is not given support for the latest cameras.

Guess I am lucky for once. Just downloaded the latest OM Workplace 2.0 and the additional AI Noise reduction add ons on my 2017 iMac. The noise models are very large downloads. Only tried it on a test RAW image so far but it works pretty quickly ( in fact quicker than Topaz AI DeNoise). The results of the first tests are that it produces similar results.
