  • SOLVED Tethered shooting via WiFi with Windows

I found an excellent piece of software called Camera Control by a very generous man in Germany called Andreas Rebs. It's completely free but works very well. It supports WiFi connection to camera with:

    - Remote control - live view and full control (all modes, not just iAuto) on PC
    - Remote release - live view on camera, PC as a shutter release
    - Live import - use camera normally, but images are sent automatically to the PC
    - Image transfer

The latter two support JPEG and raw, which is significantly better than even Olympus's own OIShare app. In fact, if you setup your camera for raw + a small JPEG, you can set the Live import to bring only the jpeg across for preview and not tie up the WiFi with a massive raw file. It's great for tethered shooting (wirelessly) and being able to see shots on the PC screen.

I'm using it on a 10" Win 10 tablet which is a very nice combination.

    You can find it here:

Olympus, E-M1, E-M10, E-P5, E-PL7, Stylus 1, WLAN, Wifi, Remote Control, Fernsteuerung, Tethered Shooting

I have it working with the E-P5, but cannot get it to connect to the E-M1

I had problems at first Graham. In the end, I used the IP Address connection option which seemed to do the trick.

Yes - that's right. You can try pinging it to make sure - the camera will respond.

Thanks for trying it out as this guy has been doing this for a while now & it is great to see that someone like him has gone to this effort to fill the hole in WiFi use with PC's. I wish that Olympus had taken the initiative & had offered OIShare for PC's too, but at least it's possible this way instead (& free!). I didn't see the need to use my PC having installed OIShare on my iPad, but for something like taking individual portrait photos for a group (drama, school or choir) this could be ideal (instead of tripping over a tether cable in Oly Capture). Maybe Olympus could do us a favour & add WiFi to Oly. Capture.
