  • HELP! Google Chrome query

I've just moved over to using Google Chrome from Firefox.

There IS a definite performance benefit, but I can't find out how to display the exif on web photos, like I could in FF.

I've downloaded an extension which claims to be an exif viewer, but it makes no difference.

    What am I doing wrong?

      Re: Google Chrome query

No, no idea. I've moved from FF as it's recently been giving unpredictable results, especially on THAT OTHER forum, and on Faecebook.

I was pleasantly surprised at the increase in speed of browsing of Chrome. My only misgivings are that it's part of the Google empire.

        Stephen,
I've installed the first on the list and it appears to work ok on Win7 64bit.

          Re: Google Chrome query

Thanks, I'll try it. Do you use it the same as FF, ie, right click and choose view exif?

            Re: Google Chrome query

            Stephen,
Yes exactly that. Once it is open you can click on the spanner and set the data you want to see - remember to go to the bottom of the list and save options.
            This is how it looks

One thing I don't like about Chrome is that you cannot set your history to be never remembered as you can in Firefox. In Chrome you need open a new Incognito window.

              Re: Google Chrome query

Thanks Jamie - just gone through to the computer room and installed it. It's a really good exif viewer. Gives far more information than I expected.

Pity about the History state in Chrome. I'll just have to try to remember and go in and delete history periodically.

                Thanks for that!

As a Chrome user for some months, I've found that the favourites have disappeared a couple of times, so perhaps an occasional backup might be a good idea.

                  Re: Google Chrome query

Link supplied that shows how to set up chrome to not save your history without going into incognito mode.

I am a Google Chrome user and one of the features I especially like about Chrome is its incognito mode. When in incognito mode, webpages you open and files you download won't be recorded in your browser's history file, and cookies are deleted on exit, making your browsing session truly stealthy. But did you know that there's a way for you to browse privately in Google Chrome but still stay signed in?

                    Re: Google Chrome query

It is possible to set up chrome to save all favourites/ set-ups passwords extensions by tying it into your Google account.Just search Google for how to do and sync to multi devices.

                      Westy,
I can't seem to get that to work. It does delete my history list but when I start to type in a url it auto completes it from my historical entries even though they are not there. I notice there are History Index and History-journal files which are being updated at the same time as the History file.
                      I have however found this
Chrome is a sleek minimalist browser, which has already outsourced many of its features into the cloud, giving users unknown freedom and flexibility. Now is the time to get to know Google Chrome a little better with the following little known feature hacks.

which does allow you to start in incognito mode.

I prefer to use IE9 with Kuso Exif Reader & it has lots of EXIF details in it (if saved in the file). It (Kuso) also allows me to look at any photo I've saved too.
I've found Google Chrome a little bit too controlling.
