  • Calibrite PROFILER Question - creating a DNG file

I picked up a ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 when DXO added a function to create a preset directly within PhotoLab. I've always struggled with colour in Photolab, particularly skin tones and with the Wide Gamut. The ColorChecker gets me closer than before, but I still have to desaturate and otherwise tweak the reds for skin tones.

I would like to see if I can do better with Calibrite's own PROFILER software which requires a DNG file. Adobe Camera Raw is free to use, and I don't have Lightroom or Photoshop (just PSE). Are any of you doing just this, or in the habit of converting ORF to DNG? Any advice on how to accomplish this without loss of RAW file quality would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Declan.

Adobe have a free utility program called DNG Converter that will create DNG files from camera raw files. Here is their page about it:

Beware though - last time I tried it the converted files were h--u--g--e! Should do the trick for creating a file for profiling though.

Thanks John. I did have a go with DNG Converter yesterday, but mustn't have filled all the boxes correctly. It worked just now, so I have made my first DCP with PROFILER. Not sure yet if it's any better than the one created within Photolab.
