  • OM Workspace editing tools

Hello. I have in mind to start using OM Workspace but having downloaded the programme I can't find any means to edit selected areas of a picture eg a brush tool. Am I right to think only global adjustments are possible ?
    Cheers

    First things first.

    Welcome to the Forum Jeff.

You are correct, there are no masking or brush tools in OM Workspace. Do you use another post processing software?

Thanks for welcome. I have LR Classic but looking for a non subscription alternative. I bought Affinity but find it difficult - but maybe I should try again.

    Another welcome here from me.

I mainly use OM Workspace for the tools like Focus Stacking and Composite or Time Lapse videos from time interval sets of shots.

If you’re looking for processing software that doesn’t cost the earth I recently noticed from a video review that ON1 is on a discount this month down to £50.34 for a perpetual license

I haven’t used this myself but others here have I think. Slightly tempted to add another PP tool to the collection!

Pressed quote in error so please ignore that.
Thanks for the welcome. I have very recently seen that or similar video ! My LRC subscription expires in August and I understand prices will rise and would prefer a one off payment for a perpetual licence.
      What's a "PP tool" ?

Sorry Jeff, my lazy typing - PP tool = "Post Processing" tool.

I just downloaded ON1 for a quick try out as a trial and I'm not sure I like the interface, but I need to have a proper look.

This is the YouTube video I mentioned:

Welcome to the friendly forum Jeff

I am currently using ON1, it can be an almost a 1 button Ai process or as complex as you like.

Their website is full of tutorial videos from beginner to expert.

Thanks Bill and Dave for replies.
I have already seen the video. She seems intent on doing lots of gear comparisons and then ranking in order of her subjective opinion. But I'll download a trial version of ON1 if there is one.
      Thanks for interpretation of PP.

Thanks Dave. I have loaded ON1 onto my Macbook Air but it takes a long long time to load up AI. I gave up waiting first time and again the seond time I tried to openi it. I'll try again later today and have more patience. But maybe my computer is too puny to cope with much AI.

I use Affinity Photo and, just like any other software it took time to get used to. I like their pricing system and the fact that during a full version life circle the point updates are included at no extra cost. They have some very good tutorials on YouTube that helped me get started with at least the stuff that I needed to learn.

Thanks for comment. I had a "play" with Affinity 2 last night and I made some progress. I'll have a look for YouTube simple instructions. I tried following tutorials by a Robin Whalley (spelling ? ) but found them impossible to follow. I'll invest some time during the coming week.

    Welcome to this place.

I recently came across this Free web based app that looks and feels like Photoshop.

Photopea Online Photo Editor lets you edit photos, apply effects, filters, add text, crop or resize pictures. Do Online Photo Editing in your browser for free!

It can do just about everything PS can do except the AI stuff, but it does have masks and layers.

It will handle raw files too.

Had a try with it. Couldn't get past the first page where a box has a message that I am blocking adds - can't get beyond that box. It will not delete.

Sounds like you have an ad-blocker running in your browser. The app does use pop-up windows. Can you not set the site as being safe to open pop-ups?

I see that Emily Lowrey mentions the AI noise reduction add-on to OM Workspace. It won't run on my laptop but have others tried it and how good is it compared to other AI noise reduction apps?

When I tried it it was a mile behind DXO (would have been pureraw2 at that time).

It's been a while since I've used it, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I generally use DXO which is perhaps best-in-class for noise reduction, but I thought Workspace stacked up pretty well.
