  • Oly 8mm Pro and Samyang 7.5mm...FoV and DeFish.

For a wider rectilinear FoV defish in PP.

The Oly 8mm Pro, a beautiful lens to be sure. But in use I found it to be a PITA...'shall I use FE, shall I use Setting 1' continually switching back and forth. Ok, so it has AF, but I cant say I found that to be a particular advantage, just took up more time.
    Price..£700'ish

OTOH, the Samyang is a little dream.
Set it at f5.6, just before infinity and away you go, everything is in focus.
    Defish at home if necessary.
    Price £200'ish

The Oly 8mm fisheye is a spectacular lens. What’s a PITA about it? If you mean the in-camera defishing, then of course that is a totally optional thing (and unavailable with the Samyang fitted). And of course, it doesn’t work in raw files at all. It can be useful for previewing raw images that you intend to defish later.

I gave up the Samyang and then the laowa for the 8mm pro. Since I need to defish using the software, I did not bother to use the in camera defish option. The difference is that f1.8 vs the f3.5. yes, there is a 0.5mm in viewing angle but that 2 stops difference in milkyway photography really helps.
