Does anyone have any experience of the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens in four thirds mount?

Re: Sigma 70-200mm
Yes, I haven't heard much about it so assume it's not available. However, with a max f2.8 aperture I would expect it to be bigger, heavier and at least as expensive as a Zuiko 50-200mm which is only half a stop slower at the long end and really is some lens to beat. Maybe that is why Sigma aren't exactly rushing to bring this lens to market in 4/3 mount.Originally posted by Melaka View PostThe last time I looked at the 4/3 lens list it was shown as 'coming soon' and has been for a long time.John

Re: Sigma 70-200mm
I have a 70-300mm coming from a forum member, If I can get an Olympus 50-200mm Mk2 for the right price even better, it is a pity Tamron don't do fourthirds, the 70-200mm they do is superb, even at the "long end".Originally posted by theMusicMan View PostHave you considered the Oly 70-300mm...? OK, it's a little slower, but nonetheless is an awesome lens, I'd say better value for money than even the 50-200mm.
Plenty of shots available to check the image quality.
I can wait, well a short while

Re: Sigma 70-200mm
Sure, the IQ is expected to be better from the 50-200 than you'd expect from the 70-300; but my experience is that the IQ from the 70-300mm is awesome and I am pushed to see how the 50-200 could have given me better IQ.
Not dissing the 50-200mm of course, as it is fatser and bigger and said to be sharper - but I am delighted at the images obtained with the 70-300mm.
What are you wanting to specifically photograph with the 50-200mm...?John

Re: Sigma 70-200mm
Birds and wildlife in general, living where I do loads of those, including wild boar. mind I do think they taste better after being marinated in red wine and cooked slowly.
I also go to Slimbridge, Peter Scotts place for the wildfowl, they now have a super collection from all over the world, well worth a visit.
I have many shots from there but none as yet with Olympus, will be rectified shortly.

here is a link to an in depth review, admittedly they didn't test it in 4/3rds mount but you can get the idea

Most of my bird shots are taken with the 70-300mm (maybe plus the EC14), it has super reach.Originally posted by forester View PostBirds and wildlife in general, living where I do loads of those, including wild boar. mind I do think they taste better after being marinated in red wine and cooked slowly.

Re: Sigma 70-200mm
Yep, the EC14 works perfectly with the 70-300mm... in fact, it's flawless. There's none of this 'only works with this and that lens'... the EC14 will work with any Oly lens and it will still autofocus etc.Originally posted by forester View PostThat is interesting, so the 70-300mm will work with the 1.4 tele converter.
I presume you require excellent light for that, most other lenses of this type would not do so.
Nope, you don't need excellentgallery were taken with the 70-300mm.John
