  • Oly 100-400 IS & Mk2 body IS.

Simple question....well I thought it was.

The lens has IS on/off switch.

The body has IS on/off switch.

To turn IS completely on or completely off does one have to switch both on and both off.

My inclination is that switching the body IS off also switches the lens IS off, as with the 12-100.

If that be the case, then what does the switch on the lens (100-400) do.

I'm aware that the 100-400 does not have Sync IS.

It is an independent IS (likely the same as the Sigma DSLR lens of the same optical design) & you need to turn both body & lens IS OFF to have IS off completely, however, if both are ON then the body will recognise that lens IS & just correct for roll only (if the E-M1 II is up to date in firmware or at least at 3.3).

Dave , keep lens i.s on , whether the in body i.s is switched on or not is totally irrelevant as it knows what lens is on the body . There is no need to alter any body settings at all . The menu switch on /off is designed for the PL lens
