    Re: Disaster

Sorry to hear that. Insurance job, maybe.

I've not seen one of these lenses in the flesh, as it were. I assume it's a metal bayonet that's come away from the lens. Out of interest, does it look as though the bayonet was screwed to a plastic internal moulding, similar to the 12-40 (both designated 'Pro' so I assume they share the same heritage and design).

If you're looking for someone to repair the lens, there was a recomendation earlier for A J Johnson.

          Ouch!

          That's really bad luck.

Sounds like a trip to Portugal for the lens, might be worth sending the E-M5 as well just in case, possibly won't cost any/much more.

          Regards.

Long trip to Portugal. Just landed in Melbourne. The mount looks just like the 12-40

              Re: Disaster

That's really horrible news Jim. I'm really sorry for you. It was nice to have that short chat with you & I hope you got some nice photos before this disaster. Olympus in Sydney is in Macquarie Park, but I doubt that would be a viable option though with your travelling times. Take care & hope this can be resolved for you OK.

That's awful news, I would be devastated. I hope that you can get it repaired soon and that it doesn't completely spoil your holiday.

Strangely I have managed one or two shots were absolute sharpness corner to corner was not needed. However care is required so not to further damage the mount.

It sounds like the lens back mount plate hasn't come right off like that 12-40 lens that got so much attention. Does that mean the camera's lens mounting ring is OK?

                      Re: Disaster

The lens mount is still connected by two screws the others look like they have been ripped out and the connection flexes. Luckily it is the top that is attached so can get a few shots if careful.

Blimey didn't realise you were still on holiday what a bummer to damage your kit like that. Hope it survives well enough to still get some shots before you send it off on it's holiday to Portugal.

You have my sympathy. If the gear is still working, make the most of it and enjoy the rest of your trip. Hopefully, in your case it will be possible to either get the items fixed and / or replaced through insurance?

My three day old µ40-150 which I dropped and then bounced into the river, was never seen again.

                            Sorry to hear this Jim,

Painful fix a from a cost and time without factor - hope they are back to normal very soon without too much financial pain.

Ouch. I think the Olympus repairs are all fixed price and they will give the whole lens a going over.
