  • Traded my 12-40 ll f2.8 in for a 12-45 f4.....it's a win, win, win.....situation.

Long covid is still with me, that's two years this month, and at 81 I'm having more and more difficulty handling heavy gear.

    Win No..1, The 12-40 ll f2.8 is a big old lump weighing in at 382gm, the 12-45 f4 is just 245gm, that's 35% lighter.

Win No.2 is, its CU capability is much improved over the 12-40 f2.8.

Win No.3 is, £100 cash back with a decent PX from Carmarthen Cameras It'll have cost me just £49

Win No 4......the balance of the combo is also greatly improved, The body, OM-1,2, is now heavier than the lens rather than the other way around.

Win No.5.....what a beautiful little thing it is as well.

A lovely lens, which unintentionally has become my most used.

An absolute beauty of a lens - bought it at the same time as I bought the EM1 Mk3 - super sharp and lightweight.
Just carry a little prime in your pocket for low light and you can snap away all day and evening.

          The 12-40mm f2.8 is a super lens.

12-45mm does not improve anything as far as I can see, Just a lighter and cheaper lens...........hey ho...

That was just the reason for the trade...weight.

I have both the 12-40mm f/2.8 and the 12-45mm f/4 and the 12-45mm gets a lot more use. It is just more convenient being compact and lightweight. It is easy to slip it in somewhere. And no loss of IQ too!

It gives you 5mm more reach.

I love my 12-45. So much lighter and compact than the 12-40 I also traded in.

Especially on my EM5iii which makes it a genuinely pocketable lightweight and weather sealed daily setup.
