Zuiko 12-60mm Problem (and 14-35mm performance)

Looks like my Zuiko 12-60mm 4/3rds has a broken aperture control ribbon cable.

The aperture works OK at the WA end, but at the long end the aperture stays wide open and consequently the images are very overexposed.

I've stood the lens down until I pluck up courage to see if I can fix it myself (the cables are cheap and readily available on Ebay).

In the meantime I'm using my seldom used 14-35mm f2 'Top Pro' lens. It's a big heavy beast, but looks like it's producing some outstanding quality images for the casual use I've been giving it.

I'm intending to take mine into Olympus (soon) since the aperture is stuck closed. I don't think that is (just) a ribbon problem somehow, but I'm relying on my 14-54 II lens instead (in low light it can hunt on the E-M1 but steps through to focus fine on the E-M1 Mk II).

Mine had the same problem when it was out of warranty. The quote for the repair was about AUD350 which, looking at the replacement cost of around AUD1300, seemed reasonable. I had the lens repaired and have had no problems ever since.

I’m experiencing the same symptoms, but am a bit nervous about lens disassembly - how easy was it to do it yourself?

Note this thread is 4 years old and Jim Ford changed makes of kit and moved away. A pity really he was a good contributor.
