  • 4/3 to m4/3 Adapters ?

    Hi,

I keep seeing 4/3 lenses for sale and I know that you can use them with adapters like the MMF-2 to use them on m4/3.

I currently have an E-M10 and I was wondering if all 4/3 lenses will "just work" using the MMF-2 or are there any compatibility issues - in particular how are they likely to AF ?

    Thanks

    Jim

I use an MMF-2 with my EM1 and 4/3 50-200 SWD without any problem. There is no weather sealing though, you need an MMF-3 for that.

Thanks I appreciate the weather sealing issue but neither the E-M10 nor any of my current lenses are weather sealed either

I was concerned that as the 4/3 cameras originally had PDAF that some lenses might not AF properly/well on m4/3 bodies.

They do work, as does the Walimex Pro version which is half the Olympus price.

Rather than focusing in one step, the lenses focus in 10 micro-steps really quickly in succession, imagine it as a focus stutter but it still gets the job done. Not really hunting as it doesnt go back and forth. The EM-1 solves this.

The SWD lenses are not the best with only CD-AF bodies but Live View (DSLR) optimised lenses are (but not as quick as M4/3's lenses) such as the 14-54Mk II. Some users have gone for the 50-200 Mk 1 lens for bodies other than the E-M1 while the SWD version works best on the E-M1 with PD-AF.
