Hi
I get somewhat puzzled when reading through the Olympus compatibility spec for the EX25 vs. what is written on this forum and my own conception of macro extenders. There are some discrepancies as well as bits and pieces missing.
Lenses missing from list
I was surprised to see 70-300 and 50-200 missing from the list. To my understanding there should be no reason why telezooms should not work with the extender. I did a quick test 70-300 + EX25 and it worked fine as I expected. Are there any known issues with lenses not explicitly listed as supported?
While discussing the topic, I would also like to take the opportunity asking if there exists data from other source specifying the magnification and focusing ranges for lenses not listed on the Olympus web site.
Focusing = MF (all lenses)
I know, moving the camera is an effective way of achieving perfect focus with macro extenders. However, to my understanding there should be no reason why AF would not work (assuming subject has enough contrast). Is there a reason why Olympus would not state they support AF? The 70-300 AF worked fine in my quick test. By the way I found C-AF helped in tracking subjects in motion.
Semi-cryptic footnote related to Zuiko 50mm F2.0
Magnification/Focusing range 0.49 - 0.98x / 21.3 - 23.1 cm*
*When using the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50mm f2.0 Macro lens, use manual focus at 0.8 to 0.98X( 0.3m or less on the lens distance scale ).
I dont get this. I don't own that lens though so it is not an issue, but still would like to understand.
