  • Lens usage trivia

I just did some "data mining" on my shots from this year. If I look just at the short zooms I have (ah-hem, all Panasonic ):

    7-14
    12-32
    12-35
    35-100

    then I get this graph:

There are strong peaks at 7, 12, 14, 32, 35 and 100 - exactly the extremities of the zoom ranges of the lenses. So, all that money for zoom lenses, when what we really need is something like this!!

    Looks like the dream solution

Did you use "ExposurePlot" to get that data ?

I'm sure they could have come up with a more appealing name for that fancy camera!

Rectaflex, that's the NHS for you! Bet private medicine providers use something less painful.

They probably use Cannon as private patients need the reassurance of a known brand irrespective of results.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

I live opposite a Spire Hospital (private) and there are Olympus vans parked outside 2 or 3 times a week - techies not patients. Either their kit is very unreliable or they have nobody on the staff who knows how to use it. MUST be the latter.

With that spelling they'd be blasting the problem away & not taking an uncomfortable photo.

I can imagine the patient 'painfully' crying out 'is the lens hood absolutely necessary, doctor?'

Imagine carrying that on a street shoot round London for a whole day. And only 12 shots?

No, I just used Lightroom and typed the results into Excel.

Referring to Naughty Nigel's post regarding spelling errors and that we're not able to see the errors as easily as we do in print. Only after pressing the commit button did I notice I'd written 'medicine' providers (or perhaps my iPad auto corrected medical to become medicine).

But on topic, the original topic, zooms have a purpose of course, but for 'singular theme apertures' (I credit Bryan Peterson for the phrase) a faster prime wins the day, any day. More lens changing of course, but we own interchangeable lens cameras.
