  • Olympus 100-400 Hiltons Photographic

Olympus 100-400 pre ordered today from Hiltons Photographic in Kingston Upon Hull, they are offering the lens at £1049.00, really honest Olympus Pro dealer, used them before, a great family run business.

Backing up what others have said on here, 70 units on their way to Olympus UK who will be 'apparently' fairly distributing them through the UK based on pre orders, apparently, approx, 176 units have already been pre ordered for the UK market, I was told that there is no info on the second batch but from past experience it maybe January before the lens is readily available as a stock item with the second batches perhaps arriving here in the UK by end of September, Im not hopeful of receiving the lens before Christmas but at least Ive saved £50.00.

I have used Hilton Photographic very good service. I bought my MC-20 & 300mm F4 from them. Always good on price.

Congratulations on your purchase, hope you don't have to wait too long for it. I wonder how many Olympus need to sell to break even?

Looks like they have underestimated demand by a long way .. we shall see what actually happens

Not necessarily. A number of goods they produce they only have production runs for a certain number (especially when they have to order in components) then another batch follows later. It’s not sensible to overproduce & have excess stock hanging around forever.

I put down £300.00 deposit, I hope it doesn't take as long as they say it might. Going on a trip in October, would be good to have a long lens by then.

Unfortunatley for me I had to let go of the lens so I could put the deposit down, I could borrow a pals Leica 1-400 if I need to but like you im hoping for a miracle before end of sept. I really wanted to get the pre order done on day 1 but just had to make sure the reviews were coming up positive, either way, I don't suppose the new lens will be worse than the 50-200 given the tech since then.

I have a p.x price for the PL which is not far below what I’m asking , mind you saying that the way it’s performing since the firmware update I’m not bothered either way
