  • Olympus E-M1 II SD Card Comparison

I found this on another site and thought it very useful.

Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

Re: Olympus E-M1 II SD Card Comparison

I have already a 32MB Lexar with no problems in em1.2. After reading this, I've ordered another 64GB also from Lexar.

I do expect not to have compatibility problems... but clearly the recommendations from Olympus does not seem convenient.

Ok! I'll ask... How are 64GB cards faster than 32GB cards

Well... actually it's not faster, just I needed more space, for em1.2 32MB is short, pro mode, high res, focus bracketing, etc... eats a lot of space.

Re: Olympus E-M1 II SD Card Comparison

According to the table in the link, the 64 Lexar is 2.6% faster than the 32 and the Transend 64 7% faster than the 32...

I'm going to guess that it's a circuit density thing...

Here is something to consider, but it's expensive.

Re: Olympus E-M1 II SD Card Comparison

I've learned with this camera test that we need to see what is the real speed in the specific machine, as it's quite sensitive to the reader. There is a recent Lexar's independent speed test that shows 2000X models having write speeds over 260MB/s (or so), however, in this camera test, the same cards are showing 100MB/s less speed. I'd expect the same happen with all other vendors.

This is the article of top speed cards

We test the latest SDHC, SDXC, UHS-I and UHS-II memory cards to find out which are the quickest.

I've got from Amazon the Lexar 64MB 2000X, rev.C. No problems observed after a quick test (hig res, focus bracketing, pro capture).

Also, FWIW. I have been using Lexar 2000x 64GB 300mb/s since december without any problems.

Unless they tested multiple examples of each card and averaged the results small variances can pretty much be ignored. You could test 5 identical cards and get a spread of a few percent or so in the results.
