And ISO 16000 last night

Here's a shot from last night, at a village evening music and supper event, taken in near darkness with the OM-1 and my trusty old ZD 14-35 f/2 @f/2 - ISO 16,000 and 1/60th shutter speed. I could have got the shutter speed down to 1/15th confidently and, so, a correspondingly lower ISO, but it was on Auto ISO.


Above is after cropping and post-processing (including LR AI noise reduction followed by Topaz Sharpen AI). Below is what the starting point RAW looked like:

Does Auto ISO on the OM1 allow up to 16000? On my EM5iii and EM1X it will only allow up to 6400. Interestingly my old EPL8 allows auto up to 256000.

It's possible to set Auto ISO to go up to 102400 on the OM-1. By default it is 25600.

Yes, OM-1 Auto ISO now goes up to 25,600 (which is what I think you mean on the EPL-8, not 256,000 )

That looks like a good way to spend an evening!

If I use SH2 drive mode on my OM-1 (my usual setting for birds etc) the max auto-ISO is 12800. If I change to another drive mode like SH1 or sequential low it will go to 25600.

I haven’t been able to find this documented in the manual with the reason for the SH2 limit.

Nice ambiance in those shots Ian, very French. I agree high iso is not the noise concern it once was. My three little owls shot was pretty high iso.

Remember the E-1 - ISO 3200 was the max and you really didn't want to get anywhere close to that! In camera JPEGs were also smoother than I could get with processing RAW files, too.

Indeed and I rarely used ( 'use' as I still have it ) mine over ISO 800 unless converting to B&W for an 'atmospheric' image.
