  • Odd thing happened today...

    Yes, about the camera too...:-)

Using the camera at the waterside, loads of birds, and changing the Custom modes quite often. One of the custom modes changed its settings all by itself. Last time this happened was when my 1st OM-1 died.

I first noticed after I changed the EV value, took some photos, then switched off. When switching it on again, the same EV value was what I had changed it to, not the original value that had been set and stored weeks ago. Then I noticed the SD card destination had changed. Changed it all back, and all seems OK at the moment. The EV value change has happened before...X fingers and hope it was a one-off...The temperature was cold, one of the two batteries was very low, and sucking electrons. I did change the battery priorty to the nearly full battery, and after that all was good. Not saying it was the battery state but who knows...

happens quite often to me too. especially with which card (slot) the camera saves to. i want to save to (card) slot 1 until it's full and then save to slot 2.
i always check both cards at the end of the day (before removing card(s) for upload) and often find random images on slot 2 while the slot 1 card is not full. same happened often with EM1X.
*I wondered if at times something causes the camera to 'think' the preferred slot is full (ie. camera tries to write too quickly/too much at once to the preferred slot (card) but the card/circuit for some reason does not accept and hence the camera thinks that preferred slot is full for the time being)?
settings changes happen too but i think that's a setting of the camera so that we don't have to manually go into the specific C mode setting to make/save new/different settings all the time. I'd prefer not to have any changes in my C modes 'permanently stick' unless I want them to. I may have the wrong box checked in settings.

Card slot assignments might change if the camera is turned on while one of the cards (like card 1) are taken out or after it has overflowed onto the second card etc.
Odd things happens to me (not the camera) all the time, but I try to ignore it in case someone thinks I'm crazy. Joking really.

I hadn't realized that even the card slot settings get saved in custom modes - I was wondering why, having changed to "S" mode my pictures were coming out on card 2 - now its obvious, I saved the card1 setting on my custom modes but not must have changed it sometime on my non-custom modes (I do use custom modes most of the time so hadn't noticed it).
