Two questions on the improvement in dynamic range. We read "up to 1 stop improvement in DR". (1) What is a "stop" in this context? (2) If the E-M1X DR measured approximately 9.7 bits (log2[EV]) at ISO 200 (https://www.photonstophotos.net), what might be expected of the OM-1 DR measured in bits?

A question on the sensor. We read that the sensor is a 20.4 effective MP Stacked BSI chip. Is the sensor "Quad Bayer" with corresponding 81.6 M photo-sites or "sub-pixels"?

And a question on the auto-focus. We read that the OM-1 provides "quad pixel AF". Is this similar to the "quad pixel AF" that we might have read about regarding other manufacturers' DSLRs?

Good question; I will be interested to hear what the answer is, but my understanding is that even if a pixel is doing focus duties, it still contributes normally to the image, if that helps.

Well done Ian, this will be interesting, many thanks for setting it up.

My question (or two related ones if you want to be picky):

1. Will it work with legacy 4/3 lenses as well as existing bodies like the E-M1 Mark II do?

2. Can we expect to see the improvements in AF (like better tracking etc.) with legacy 4/3 lenses? I appreciate that performance will never be as zippy as it is with newer m43 lenses, but would still hope to see some of the new function benefitting us. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't, unless it is deliberately disabled. I am still using the 90-250 f/2.8, and there is no newer equivalent to replace it.

Thanks Ian, hope to attend. There will be lots of OM-1 questions I am sure. I heard that the high speed movie modes would support C-AF during recording and wondered if this is the case. Currently the E-M1 Mk3 locks AF when high speed movie capture is started.

Not really an OM-1 question but I’m interested if they plan firmware updates for the E-M1 Mk3 and E-M1X - particularly for the new menu system. This will be really useful for anyone using one of those bodies as a second camera with the OM-1.

Will the RRS baseplate that fits the EM-1.3 fit the OM-1?

A question I asked RRS, they replied that they have not yet determined their support for the OM-1. They did offer that I could try the E-M1ii plate and return it, unmarked in its original packaging, if I was not happy. They did say that the OM-1 was a different fit and that they were only promoting their generic plate for the OM-1 at the moment. I'm hoping my RRS L plate for the E-M1X will fit the OM-1 with the HLD-10.

Two questions which I would like to ask ...

Question 1
Although I have not read the manual from cover to cover, from what I have read, ignoring ProCapture modes, there are six sequential shooting modes:

• Mechanical
• Mechanical with anti-shock
• Electronic
• Electronic with anti-shock
• Electronic High-speed Sequential (SH1) - no continuous autofocus available after the first shot
• Electronic High-speed Sequential (SH2)

What would be the recommendation sequential shooting setting be for something like Birds in Flight for which I tend to use electronic sequential shooting with continuous autofocus - somewhere between 10 and 18 frames per second.


Question 2
Noting that although I have anti-shock in my E-M1X, I have never paid any attention to it so I guess that this question is not exclusive to the OM-1
As Anti-shock can be set with a delay of 0s, is there any point shooting with this OFF in modes which allow it to be set to ON?
