Shooting in S mode, auto ISO, pro-cap mode.

It looks like instead of saving the images to separate files it combined them into one. It was an egret leaving its perch. I turned the camera off and back on and the other sequences were fine.

I don't think any modern device is without some type of bug or glitch. In this case it produced an interesting pattern.

That's a good effect.

I wonder how it happened though - it looks like what you might get with computational modes like high res. Did you look at the exif in OM Workspace to see if it glitched to a different mode somehow?

I did. I only use workspace for firmware updates and had forgotten that it has very complete exif data. That shows this was shot using HHR which is a much better explanation. I guess at some point I had programmed a button for that and accidentally pressed it while setting up for this shot. I've since rechecked all my button mappings.

Aha that's what I do sometimes. I go to take some bird shots and discover I put it on high res mode. Big surprise and you have to wait for it to finish!
