fl lm3 flash help

help required please.

I have the Fl Lm3 flash unit that came with the M3 mark ii. Unfortunatley I can only seem to get it to work in the auto mode and then only automatically.

In P or A mode the flash does not have an auto setting and stays grey for all the other settings ie it cannot be set and therefore does not flash. According to the camera manual all the settings should be available..

Can any one let me into the secret?

I had a problem with my flash and it turned to be electronic shutter being turned on for the particular mode - worth checking.

That's correct Iain.... in shooting menu 2 , Anti-Shock/Silent , Silent Mode Settings..... set Flash Mode to Allow

Will allow flash to operate in Silent Shutter Mode ( P A S M and Auto settings) and flash should be working ok in regular shutter mode.

Thank you Iain and bassman that has resolved my issue. I have also enabled the focus light .

Olympus cameras really give you a lot of control. However thatt does mean that at times they can be a little irritating and the manuals are certailnly not 'how to' guides.

I was tearing my hair out recently, wondering why the flash wouldn't work, until I realised it was the electronic shutter

I am having problems with this little flash again. I can see the white flash symbol on the monitor but each time I press the shutter a red flash sign comes up on the top right and the flash does not fire. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong now?

Which shooting mode (PASM) are you using and what is the shutter speed?

Ian, thanks for responding. After working my way through the settings and the manual, I think the flash itself is faulty.
