  • intervalometer and e-520

    Hello all

I hope you can help me with an issue I've been having.

I've just bought an intervalometer off ebay, its made by JYC, and is a TC series E2.

I've been through all the instructions and have it working, my E-520 works fine, but for some reason the two wont talk to each other, hence no photos.
The documentation with the JYC says it will work with the E-520, so does anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Should the camera be set to any specific settings when I have this connected, I've had it in manual mode, and nothing happens.

I've searched google for ideas and come up with nothing, looked at the e-520 faq and nothing, so I thought I'd come to the experts.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Joe

      Re: intervalometer and e-520

The intervalometer will give two outputs with one, a half press for focussing & a few seconds later, a full press. If the camera is not in an active state, it will not take a photo but just focus if the camera woke up after the first signal (or nothing more than waking the camera). The power saving feature in the E520 needs to be turned OFF for this to work successfully.

The other thing with these after market devices, is that they are not made as well as the Olympus remote release plug & might damage the connector socket in the camera if not used very carefully.

I had trouble with a wired remote for my E-510 and it would only work if I applied quite a lot of pressure pushing it into the socket. Following on from what Ross mentioned above it would be worth looking closely at plug and socket to check nothing is bent before pushing it in harder!
I hope you find a solution.

in addition to what has already been said, you may like to try switching off sleep functions on the camera, take the batteries out of the intervalometer, plug it in to the camera and use it as a cable release...that will check the basic connections
