I bought the lens from someone who had several, all better than the Canon MPE-65 and this was the best one. I suspect he was right.

As the lens was set at f16, the TC would make that f32. Then the magnification would multiply that several times. The pundits in blogs would say that diffraction blur would wipe out all detail long before this.
