  • Request Help on lost image

First time on this......hope it's the right place.
Took a number of videos on my E-PL5. These are numbered 1 to 5 on my card but number 3 is missing. I ran a program to check for deleted files but to no avail. What could have happened? The camera has certainly recognised that a file was created as it has clearly allocated a number to it. Have I accidentally somehow protected the image from being viewed?

    Re: Help on lost image

    Hi Robinold and welcome.

Oh dear, this is the scenario that all of us dread! Rather than being protected from viewing, it sounds to me more like the file has been deleted. I would normally recommend trying recovery software, but it sounds like you have already done that.

Unless other members have better ideas, I can only suggest you contact a specialist company offering file recovery.

Try another recovery program. 'Zero Assumption Recovery' is a good one:

Learn how to do data recovery yourself. Data recovery software, data recovery tools and data recovery tutorials by well-known and time-tested ZAR Data Recovery.

It's free for image recovery. Whether this include videos, I'm not sure.

I have tried SanDisc RescuePro very successfully in the past - that came free with a CF card in the days when CF cards were expensive but I believe it can be downloaded from the SanDisc site still (probably for a fee), and it is worth a trial. However if whatever happened to video 2 occurred before 3 was recorded the space on the disc may have been reused and there is now nothing to be done
