  • Lurker revealed!

    Hello all!

I've been registered for a little while and made my first post today.

My girlfriend started my interest in photography as she always used to spend ages taking photos wherever she went and I thought I'd see what the fuss was about. We worked in South Korea between February 2009 and Feb 2010 and that's where I became more and more interested in photography and bought my first Olympus - an E-510. As a science graduate I loved the use of technology to capture and create beauty. In the airport when we left Korea I persuaded my other half to buy an EPL1 as the price was stormingly good (I think, it got confusing with exahcnge rates).

    Here is my Picasa page:

Don't be too critical as they're not meant to be masterpieces, they were mostly to show my family and friends in the UK what I was up to.

You can call me John if you like

O.K. but what's your real name?

Only joking, it's my weird sense of humour which seems to surface about this time of night when I'm getting tired.

Nice to meet you, John - you can call me John, too, if you can believe that!

Hey, I've looked at your Picasa page and you've really been to some places - looks like you've already had a more interesting life than me and I'd guess you're only about half my age! Don't worry, I won't critisize - amongst those snapshots you've got some fine images, real gems.

Keep enjoying your photography and hopefully we'll see a lot more of you now. Don't forget to load some pictures into your free gallery when you have time.

    Cheers,
    John

Welcome! Remember : First of all you take photos for your self and if a photo don't mean anything to you - THEN it becomes a bad photo. Not because others don't like it.

Welcome John from a Peter (but my second name's John so I guess I qualify to join this thread ).
I enjoyed your pictures on Picasa. I used to be a sales manager for the far east and they bring back many memories of my frequent visits to Vietnam, Thailand and ROK etc. Are you missing the Kimchi?
I got what must have been one of the last E-600's from Currys a month or so back and I love it ( but I still kept my E-510 ).Good luck with finding one, it's a great camera.

                        Regards

Strangely, yeah, I am missing the Kimchi, along with my friends and other Korean weirdness.

I spoke to a guy at the Curry's in Manchester recently and he looked on the system and said they have none in the North... I'm going down to Cardiff soon and I'll have a scout around there - the offer is too good to be true, I might be able to sell my 510 for around the same price on eBay....
