  • Hello From Greater Manchester

A quick post to introduce myself. I am Steven. I am fast approaching retirement age. I have used Olympus camera's since the days of the E3 and with the launch of the OMD EM1 Mk3 I took the opportunity to trade in that camera plus my much loved but now little used 12-60mm and 50-200 plus my wife's OMD EM5, kit lens and two part grip to consolidate our equipment down to an OMD EM1 Mk2 ( my previous go to camera ) for my wife and the aforesaid Mk3 for myself. Both are used with a variety of Olympus Pro Lenses which we now share, plus the four thirds 50mm F2 Macro which I am loathed to part with and I think suits the OMD Pro Bodies really well.
I hope to spend time going forward developing an interest in wildlife and bird photography, but hitherto have dabbled in various types of photography, to club standard. I am a member of Oldham Camera Club.
Looking to the future, I look forward to reading posts and hopefully contributing where appropriate. I would particularly be interested to read posts from Members in my area and those with tips about Olympus Workspace, Capture One 20 and Affinity Photo, as I originally used Apple Aperture to edit images and more recently Olympus Workspace, exporting Tiffs from there back into Aperture for any local adjustments. (Hint.....it's all very slow on my Mac....so time to start again with Capture One I think ) Finally, I have volunteered to revamp our clubs syllabus for Sept to Dec and would welcome any suggestions for speakers who present interesting content via Zoom.
Take care all and stay safe.
    Steven

                Welcome.

E3. Lovely camera. Like you, I sold almost everything of the 4/3 when I moved to the mft.

Welcome to the forum. I am also a user of Macs and Capture One Pro. My primary photo editing computer is a fully expanded 2018 Mac Mini. But even that wasn't enough for responsive photo editing and so I have recently added a Blackmagic eGPU. Now I am happy. My other Mac is an old (Mid-2012) 15" Retina MacBook Pro. Fortunately, I took advice from a friend who told me that they couldn't be expanded and had it fully-specced from new. It is still a perfectly useable computer for photo processing when travelling.

Camera-wise, my Olympus interchangeable lens cameras are E-300, E-3, E-M1, E-M1 Mk II and E-M1 Mk III. Since I made the mistake of trading in my old and much-loved OM2N SLR back in 1994, I have never sold any of my old cameras. They are like old friends. If I am no longer using them, then they are "retired" to my "Old Camera Museum" in my lounge room. I have also hung on to all my old 4/3 lenses and have found them to work beautifully with both the E-M1 Mk II and Mk III when using an Olympus MMF-3 adaptor, of which I have 2.

I suspect that we'll have a fair bit to speak about......
