  • 'ow do from Lincolnshire

    Evening all,

Sorry it's taken a while to say 'hello' but here goes...

Was sent the link for this forum within the photographic section of a hifi forum and was chuffed to find a UK-based board to chew the fat about all things Olympus.

I've been into photography on & off for over 40 years (since my teens) but now, in semi-retirement, it's great to have the time to really indulge. Had a few different systems over the years, and in the days of 35mm was a huge Nikon fan. I did try Canon for a while (owned one of the first EOS film cameras in 1987) but my heart was always Nikon.

In more recent years I've spent a lot of time with the Fuji X cameras (still have a well-worn - and loved - X100S) but only very recently discovered the OM-D's. Going from a full-frame Nikon the Oly was a leap of faith but I'm really chuffed to have 'found' it and am enjoying the E-M1 immensely.

Looking forward to browsing the threads/images in this forum and posting one or 3 myself.

    Richard.

Welcome to the forum fellow Yellowbelly*. My story is similar to yours although I was a Canon devotee. Still have my 5DII.

*For those unfortunate enough not to live in beatiful Lincolnshire, the term "Yellowbelly" is no insult. Thought I'd better clear that up

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

To try and answer Phill's question re the 'Gromit' name - it stems from a few years ago when I was building my Caterham 7. Folk at work kept asking me 'how are your bolts and grommets?' One particular mate's surname was Wallace and on taking him for a spin in the car later on, there was much p*ss taking along the lines of 'ooh it's Wallace and Gromit'.

Used the name on every forum I've been on be it motorcycling/hifi/camera etc etc.
