  • Hi guys and girls.

    Hi there,
My name's Pete and I live in Australia. Unfortunately there is no 43 forum site for Australians so I am going to borrow yours...if you don't mind.
I am psyched to get tips and see what other people are capable of with their 43 gear...coz I know I need the help. Haha

    Happy snapping everyone.

    Enjoy.

Pete, you are very welcome - especially cos I was born in Newcastle NSW Not been back since I was 3, unfortunately - so I have 48 years of catching up to do!

Where in Australia do you hail from?

        Re: Hi guys and girls.

Mate I'm a bit from all over the place.
However if I had to call somewhere home it would be Kiama on the South Coast. I am currently living out near Wagga, been posted out here as a paramedic..unfortunately photographic opportunities are low around these parts...flat isn't very interesting. haha
But I will be heading over to the States for some National Park hiking to get the shutter going. I am actually on the prowl for a 9-18 or a 11-22, so if you know anybody looking to get rid of one, I'm all ears. hehe.
I will try and post a pic today but I am not very good at computers. Look out for a pic of an Aussie Hobby Falcon.
Thanks for the warm wishes guys. These forums are always welcoming.

Also, am I responsible for limiting the size of my photo before posting...or does the site do it for me?

Haha. That explains it. I thought it was my slow internet connection...rural Australia.
I will have to get a photo edit software then. I don't have one yet...
Can you recommend a good program.
One with all the basics and a few extras like panorama stitch and some patch up things like clo
                ne tools?

                  Mac / PC...?

Mac: preview will allow you to resize files I believe
PC: IrFanView is a superb free programme

If you're after stitching then you could look at Adobe Photoshop Elements perhaps.

I was looking at the photoshop scene...Elements seems like all I'd need. I'm not into post processing.
                    Cheers anyway.

                            Hello Pete,
I wish you a warm "Mahlzeit!" from Germany ...
... and I'll second the hint John gave, to try IrfanView as picture tool. I use it since almost 15yrs. now and it certainly is one of my all time favorites. You need to set the correct options though. But it will allow batch-prozessing your files. Frame size, file size, name etc., all can be changed to your liking this way. A very versatile and powerfull tool, but it is definately NO photoshop software.

                              Thanks (danke) for the input,
I have downloaded a free trial of Photoshop Elemets 10. Excellent program.
I think I will jsut bite the bullet and buy Elemets 10.

                              Thanks again.
