    Hello from Plymouth, UK!

    Hi everyone,

    I've joined up to pick peoples brains on settings and techniques for my favorite hobby.

    My 1st D-SLR was an Olympus E300 with a 14-45 and 45-150 Lens bundle.

    I'm still using the lens but the body has been replaced with a E520 after the E300 got dropped :-(

    I mainly like shooting landscape photography but have dipped into wedding photography and recently got paid to do a shoot.

    I'll post up my website link when i'm allowed (minimum of 6 posts before links can be placed)

    My next project is photographing fast low-flying jets through the the 'Mach Loop' in North Wales in July with some friends. I'm going to have to leave my lenses at home and am planning on hiring a Zukio Digital 300mm f/2.8 from this site. I've already sought the advice of a veteran of the Loop, Mark Jayne, who may well join us for the trip. If you google mjaviation you will see his amazing photos.Some of the pilots are waving at him as they flast past at 500mph!

    Has anyone here shot on the Loop? Advise is always welcome!

        A warm welcome to the group.
        Ask away folk here are allways pleased to share.

        Regarding low level aircraft photography, we have a member, TYS1977, who posts excellent shots taken in the Lake District using an E-500 and Zuiko 70-300. Have a look at his posts/gallery. Also in the April issue of Advanced Photographer Magazine there is a profusely illustrated article on photography in the "Mach loop".

              Since it is your first time photographing airplanes, may I recoment you to read the following tutorial/tip on this matter?
              It's called "Photographing airplanes" and I have written it originally for Olympus User. Later I also posted it here. Just click on de link below.

              I'm sure it will help you to make those great shots at the mach loop.

                Thanks for the tip! I've been reading all sorts of info about shooting aircraft. I just hope it all sinks in.

                I'm excited about the loop as they will be top-down photos of the aircraft as they bank hard right to get around the kink in the valley. It looks like we'll be going up 2nd July to make the most of the light and good weather (hopefully).

                      Hi Innes.
                      Some great shots on your website, thanks for sharing.

                      Hope you don't mind but I find the "Tilt Viewer" thing a bit distracting if you really want to look seriously at the shots. Sorry, just my opinion.

                        Thanks for the feedback. I get mixed feedback about the tilt viewer. Some love it and some hate it. I'm going to do a HTML option for those who can't view flash or who don't like the tilt viewer.

                            Welcome to the forum Innes.

                            I started with E300 as well. Landscape and flying photography, I like
                            landscape but never have experience in flying stuff.

                            Are you planning for the Farnborough Air show in July? bought my tickets,
                            have to do some home work before. Will be carrying e3 with 70-300 lens and
                            pods, don't have any big lens otherwise. If my finance situation (and
                            wife) permits, will hire a pro lens and try for the show.
