  • Newbie says Hi

Thought I had better introduce myself

I recently upgraded from a fuji bridge camera to my first DSLR, a E600 with 14-42mm lens.

I have just bought a 40 - 150mm from the sales section of this very forum.

I will no doubt be asking lots of questions on here when i dare to try anything other than the auto setting

    Welcome

Always remember we all started out with the first shot...

The great thing with Auto is that you can view the exif data and see what setting it used on shots that you like and those you don't like and work out quite easily what to do with "A" & "S" mode to get the results you want.

The same with "Scene" Mode - try different modes withe the same shot and work out what settings are used with the different modes. It's a very quick way to learn how to adjust the camera to get different effects.

Most important of all... Have Fun, show us what you take and ask the questions.

      Welcome to the forum Chris
Interesting to hear that you had a Fuji bridge before moving to an Olympus D-SLR. That happens to be the route I took when I first moved over to Olympus. Fuji make some great compacts and bridge cameras.
My old Fuji S9500 is still in our family (now my brother in law's camera) mint and working just as well as it ever did.
If you have played around with aperture or shutter priority (or even manual) modes on your Fuji I'm sure you will quickly be up to speed with your Olympus kit.
One of the things you will notice pretty quickly is the optical quality of the lenses over a wider aperture range, Olympus kit lenses are amongst the best supplied with any D-SLR.
I also think Fuji and Olympus have a very similar approach to colour fidelity which for me made the switch a very easy transition.

Looking forward to seeing some of your shots
