  • I went to the photography show today!

Hi all I actually went to the photography show today as my photography friend got me a pro ticket. Really good show and just for information I went to the OM systems stand (very nice) and I handled the following cameras..... The OM-1mkii and to be honest I found it too unweildly and a bit heavy? Obviously my nerves aren't great. But I picked up the OM-5 and fell in love and that's probably going to be my next camera, very true to the MFT system in size and looked beautifully well made.
Arrived home about an hour ago and in extreme pain from my nerve condition πŸ˜” so have taken two amitriptyline tablets to help sleep tonight

Those going tomorrow hope you enjoy it and sorry I went today! Obviously no payment to entry as my friend got me a trade pass!

Hope that you get some rest tonight Mark.

I have both the OM-1 and OM-5. IQ is better on the OM-1 as would be expected, but the OM-5 is nice to handle and gives good results...

Thanks for the advice maybe I shouldn't go for one. It just seemed a lovely sized camera

The OM-5 battery does not have a huge life, and also long-winded to swap custom modes. But it is a nice little camera.

I have the EM5iii and would very happily trade up to the OM5. It’s the size and comfort to use that wins every time. I’ve owned the EM1iii but find I keep using the 5 sized camera as it’s comfortable. I can live with some feature limitations for the size benefit.

I still have the original E-M1. It is a nice little camera. As for the original OM-1, it is still an excellent camera. I am not looking at replacing it any time soon.

I have the EM-1 (2 copies) and no wish to get a later model.

Because of the lack of a full frame equivalent I have invested in Sony, an A7r followed by an A7r3, the latter for the new shutter and the improved IS.

Most of my shots are with the EM-1.

I have numerous legacy lenses adapted, mostly to the EM-1. I also have several Laowa manual lenses, mostly UWA for the Sony but I use the 25mm x2.5 to x5 for my high mag macro on the EM-1. I can't use AF on the Sony and don't miss it. My Oly 4/3 50mm macro can be AF but I rarely use it. Unfortunately I can't use that on the Sony.

I was also there for a while yesterday. Looked at a few odds and ends, nothing really grabbed me around the show, but it was nice to have a play with an OM1, the 150-400 white lens and the 150-600 Sigma/Olympus lens. I may go out and get a Sigma later, seemed a good lens, but the IQ on the white was stunning! Couldn't afford to take advantage of any of the show offers though, so went home empty handed...
