Anyone up for a central location meet on 20th April?
Alas, it seems that you can't even get into the exterior castle gounds without paying a fairly hefty price (up to £31pp) so we may have to rethink this.
Charlecote Park is nearby and a more reasonable £11 and a couple of quid less if 15 or more of us form a group.
Ian It would be good to meet up with you and the other guys able to be there but I can't commit right now so will decide nearer the time........to be advised ???
PS I am a NT member and have never been to Charlecote Park
Good to know, Dave - maybe we can speak to each other in French when we don't want the others to know about something!
The truth is that while my French is progressing, I'm still some way to being fluent
Just to recap, we will meet at Charlecote Park, just outside Warwick, at 11AM, on Wednesday, 20th April.
The house itself is not open at the moment but there is access to the grounds and there is a coffee shop and outbuildings. Deer roam the estate and I wonder if we might see some birds, too. This is a National Trust property but if you aren't a member it costs £11 to get in.
I'm told that (free) parking should be booked in advance as the public car park is undergoing some works.
That page recommends booking in advance to guarantee entry.
I'm going to attempt a live YouTube broadcast introducing everyone who arrives on the day.
I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! OMDS's Mark Thackara would like to be with us, but he may have work commitments, so he won't be able to decide until fairly late.
I've created a WhatsApp group to keep those hoping to come along informed and in touch.
If you think there is a good chance you will be attending, please PM me and let me know if you would like to be added to the group.
Have taken various bird pics especially riverside, including kingfishers, egrets, warblers, also the small lake usually has ducks and gulls, but be wary of the deer. The cafe is quite adequate, car parking quite large but gets busy.Weather permitting I will attend as I am a motor cyclist and Oly gear fits my tank bag.Landscapers should be satisfied, macro also.If you arrive via B4086 there is Compton Verney visitor centre & art gallery,(expensive)also a small lake.
Have you checked on your legal responsibilities as the Organiser of this meet ? Other people organising very similar meets have checked and decided it simply wasn't worth all the red tape and hassle.
Best not to rely on the "keyboard Legal warriors" information either.
Just booked a carpark space, thanks for the reminder Mark. All done online.
Odd that commenting has gone from this thread? Although Ian seems to be able to do it?

Looks like it is restricted to Admins on this thread. I was going to add a comment to Darkroom's legal message to the effect of Ian probably being safe from extradition from France ....

Benego you never know it may be the start of an International Incident 😁 I think Mark being Admin cant see the problem of the missing Comments tab.
