  • Pub/Day in Wales ?

Before Christmas I exchanged messages with one of the members of the site (Stevedmp3) having noted on his website that he works with someone who used to be a regular on this site john Burns (aka MusicMan)

Anyway... it got to the suggestion that it was ages since we had a get together in Wales ... so isn't it about time .. especial;ly as some of you have EM1.2's I can drool over

I have a couple of suggestions but open to others (see vote)

For those not local either the bay area http://www.visitcardiffbay.info/thin...iff-bay/visit/ or St Fagans https://museum.wales/stfagans/ can be a full day out

I'm thinking something like mid - late feb so places that can be undercover if needed would be best

I would be up for anything like you suggest. I voted for an evening but happy with a day. I have been to Cardiff Bay sooo many times but it is still very photogenic. BTW John Burns isn't too well at the moment. It is a bit nasty actually.

I live in the Midlands, but keep meaning to go to Wales for some photography opportunities further away. It would be fun to mix it with some socialising too. I'd probably stay overnight. Let me know what you're planning and if I can make it, I will!

      Thanks for taking the initiative!!

        Re: Pub/Day in Wales ?

I came down to the meet in 2009 Raglan Castle, with yourself and John ( The Musicman). It was a good meet up. So let's see what pans out, as life is busy now with 3 1/2 year old twin granddaughters. If I can fit it in I will.
        Thanks

It would be great if there was a few local sites to meet various members in the regions.

            Hi all.
Now I've returned to the fold, I'm happy to come along too as long as I'm around at the time. Obviously one of our lovely bright crisp Welsh days would be brill but can't be guaranteed.
I'd put in a vote for St Fagans as it can be quite atmospheric at times, with lovely outdoor shots as well as the challenges of dimly lit interiors.

Sorry to hear that John Burns isn't too good. Please pass on best wishes if anyone has any contact.

I could well be up for another trip over the bridge (would depend upon dates and family stuff).

If we're around and not otherwise booked than we would be interested.

Thanks for the comments so far

I'll let this run for a few more days and then depending on the levels of interest for various options I will come up with a more concrete proposal and try and suggest a reasonable date

                    Regards

                        Re: Pub/Day in Wales ?

Like Dave an evening meet would be better for me for as I run a retail business time off in the day can be problematic. However also like Dave I voted for a 'day out' as it would be fairer to those who may travel some distance and if possible and given enough time I could possibly arrange sufficient coverage to be able to join you all.

                          Re: Pub/Day in Wales ?

Sounds like a great idea. I am now retired so can be very flexible. Understand if East Wales is best location so that more can attend, but my preference is West Wales. But I live there :-)

Weather of course is the bugbear, so a good pub needs to be nearby.
