Ian I've sent you a PM hope it got through as there seemed a lot of extra gobbledygook around the forum message area. Maybe a result of the forum issues. Anyway post a comment if you don't get the pm.

          Oh, deep joy and happiness.

Last night the Lufthansa pilots called a 2 day strike for tomorrow and Friday - poor sods are reported to being forced to send their children out to work after school in order to ensure that there is at least some bread for Breakfast the next day. 😞😖

I've received a mass mail from Lufthansa informing me, and about 100,000 others, of the strike. The short version is that they are trying to get passengers booked with other airlines. if that doesn't work they will try to offer me a flight on another date, or I can cancel and request a full refund. The down side of all of this is that my hotel is booked and paid for with no chance of a refund and I have no clue whatsoever as to if and how I can get that money back from the Lufthansa.

I'm waiting on the next mail, which is supposed to be sent at around midday, and I'll post the news here.

Flight has been rebooked by Lufthansa for tomorrow.

Frankfurt to Birmingham via Dublin, instead of arriving at 12:45 the time has been pushed back to 22:55 and that includes a 5 hour stopover at Dublin airport. I just need to contact the hotel to ensure that someone is awake when I arrive in the middle of the night, and check if there are trains running between the Airport and New Street Station.

Looking forward to meeting the group on Saturday.

Good luck with the flights Gerry.

There's bound to be a bar serving Guinness at Dublin airport if that's your thing

Enjoying a pint of Smethwicks, which is more my taste. I've been here since 16:30 and my Birmingham flight leaves at 22:00. I called the Hotel yesterday about my late arrival and there is someone on duty all night. There will be a few trains to New Street Station when I land so that's one worry less on this adventure.

I did finally arrive at 1:00 AM. I spent a dry but cold day yesterday at the Black Country museum, fascinating place. I enjoyed a good meal in a nice pub a few doors away from the hotel to close out the day.

I'm looking forward to meeting the group today.
