That is a spectacularly good photograph, taken in simply wonderful light. Surely if it is chosen they will just ask you to name an alternative prize.

Well it looks like we have at least one success so far in this competition. Step forwards Mr John Burns, AKA The Musicman! In at number 6 with a lovely close up of a Blue Tit. Well done John

Try a search on Olympus UK. If you look on twitter you might find it by searching on #topoftheshots.

Thanks. It's weird, I'm a software engineer by training and have been involved in software development all my working career (since 1982) - but I really struggle with Facebook. I find the site layout illogical and lacking a consistent mental model I can get my head around. I'm confused by "Timeline", "Home" and the various things I see when I search for stuff. Then it seems images I post disappear at random - there one moment and relegated to a url the next. Maybe I'm just too old for this social networking stuff!

                    Paul,

The way that Facebook jumbles up the timeline is infuriating (that's now way to describe it, others are less polite)! I've read it depends on how you apply likes. I stick with it as I like some of the feeds from UK weather forecasts etc. but it seems so random!!

Twitter is much easier as it stay chronological. Instagram used to be like that but now that jumbles things up too!

I thought I saw your post on Facebook a few days ago!

Yes Amanda - I posted a few things trying to get the hang of it. I guess I'll persevere but I can see it'll be an uphill struggle.

You're too kind John. I doubt I'll get a mention, let alone win. But if I do, I'll raise my glass in your honour!

BTW - how is the new hip going?

You are not alone... I've been working with computers since 1978, hardware and software development, and FB does my head in too...

I have been following the announcements each day and I believe it would help if Olympus tagged the announcements consistently. I tried to generate a search which just displays the #TopOfTheShots winners but John's shot was not tagged that way so is missing on some searches. The best I can suggest is to look at their Facebook page at 6pm each day and you will see the day's announcement.

You can look back down the posts on that page and see the shots from 10 to 6 so far. In amongst the other posts and announcements they make.

I'm looking forward to a post Facebook world!

I'm no FB fan and it annoys me too but surely they could just put all the shots in an album on FB and then you could just click on it to see them on their own.
