  • August 2024 Monthly Photographic Challenge: Arches

To enter, simply post your picture in this thread between now and 30th August '24. After which there will be a two week voting period during which all members (not just those who have entered the competition) will be encouraged to vote for their favourites by using the "Poll" system. 1st, 2nd & 3rd places will be allocated and these will ultimately count towards the title of E-System User Photographer of the Year. However, do bear in mind that each monthly round is a separate competition in its own right and you can enter as many or as few rounds as you wish.

Voting begins on September 1st, 2024. 3 votes each, using the "Poll" system.

We'll try to keep the rules simple, but we must have a few:-

    1) Enter one picture only. You are able to change or delete your entry during the month. There is no time limit on the submitted photo. The Title is a description, and your interpretation is your decision.

    2) All entries must have been taken on an Olympus E-System body (Four Thirds or Micro Four Thirds), a non-Olympus body but using an Olympus Zuiko E-System lens or an Olympus digital compact such as the XZ-1 or the Tough Cameras.

    3) Three votes per member, please. You do not need to have entered the competition in order to vote.

    4) Don't vote for your own entry, please.

    5) Once you have voted, that's it. You can't change your mind!

    6) Because we are using the "Poll" system, you can "Like" away to your heart's content.

    Guidance

    7) I would urge participants in the challenges to produce new images for the given topics. The subjects are planned for up to six months in advance. Therefore, entries could quite easily have been taken up to 6 months in advance.

But what if you happen to have a great photo in your archive from much longer ago? Should we be denied the chance to see such gems?

What it boils down to, is that while in a perfect world, entries would be new for the given topic, it's not an exact science to 'police this' and the priority is to see great images given an outing, for our enjoyment. So, to summarise, please try to take new images, but we're not going to be disappointed by seeing great images from your archive.

    8) Olympus/OM System/Micro Four Thirds provenance

Our site is dedicated to Olympus/OM System and Micro Four Thirds photography. For the purposes of the challenges, entries must have been taken using an Olympus/OM System camera body and/or lens. We're happy to accepts images taken using other Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds gear elements, as part of an Olympus/OM System setup. So, please, no Nikon, Canon, Pentax, smartphone, etc., images

Don't forget, the subject is open to your interpretation.

I hope that I have covered everything but please do let me know if I have missed anything.

If this is near you, go back there and add a human element. (Just a suggestion)

Last edited by Nutmeg47; 16 August 2024, 09:51 AM. Reason: I wasn't happy with the muted tones of my arch/pyramid entry, and couldn't replicate in WS the rich golden glow that my eye saw.
