September Photographic Challenge results :Urban Landscape
1st.........Tomryan99 - Tokyo. Looking towards Shinjuku from Tokyo Tower......17 votes
2nd.........Luv2shoot - Vertiginous....................................... ............................11 votes
3rd.........alfbranch - From Glasgow........................................... ......................10 votes
So Congratulations to Tonryan99 on a spectacular and dazzling photo of Tokyo. The overall look was spectacular. Congrats Tom.
In second place, Luv2shoot submitted an unusual POV, looking skywards. A photo which catches the eye to say the least. Well done LORELL.
And in third place, alfbranch's backstreet in Glasgow was a photo full of detail, portrayed in B/W. Well done Alf.
Congratulations to all three, their entries will go towards the E-Group phootgrapher of the year 2022.
In 4th place, PDK42 submitted a different viewpoint of the City of London, from the Thames at low tide, with a delightful sunset to the west. One of my favourites. Excellent work Paul.
In 5th place, shakyHands gave us George Street Sydney, again a different POV. I hope the trams hoot if you are in the way..:-)
6th place went to stoates, with a Dusky Singapore Waterfront. The opposite POV to others. This must have been taken from that spectacular ship in the sky. Lovely sky and texture.
7th equal place showed 090657's talent at street photography, with his Bristol back street. Colourful and stark at the same time. AJW's Lace Market in Nottingham was very detailed, in B/W. Well done both.
In equal 8th place, Scotwin's Reflections of the Aberdeen College was a very different POV, again B/W. I needed time to work out what I was looking at. Excellent work Scott. And Griffig showed us the Brisbane CBD after sunset. A spectacular cityscape Larry, one of my favourites.
9th place went to Wornish, with a very different view of New York city. Looked like a huge fish tale! Well seen and photo'd Dave.
10th place went to myself, Llandeilo is not a city, but provided an excellent maze of rooftops. Thanks for the votes.
In 11th place equal, Blu-by-u' Confluence of rivers in Kuala Lumpar cleverly shows the new and old parts of the city. Well Done Henry. TravelingChick Grieg Hall Call showed us a gent on the phone, adding a focus on a brightly painted building, a lovely splash of colour. Thanks Celeste.
Runners up up in 12th place equal included Tram, with his Rotterdam scene. A nice photo of the city in sunshine. Barr1e's Vienna suburbs had some spectacular road shapes. Nice one. Walti's photo of Skating on thin ice was very colourful. I was surprised this photo did not get a vote. Bikie Johns Suburban landscape was an interesting view, using one of the Art settings, I imagine. Well thought out John. JohnGG's The City from London Bridge was also a super photo, again surpised it did not attract a vote or two. Good one John. Dewi9's Squid Rock was full of interest, well seen. TomMote's University of Amsterdam was a very peaceful scene with good composition, and OM USer's Old Father Thames, again a very peaceful scene well composed.
All the runners up produced good quality photos, but with just three votes...................
This is a record Challenge, stats include 22 entries, attracting 87 votes and 29 individual voters. A good photo subject, well carried out.
Thanks to all for submissions, and thanks for the support for the forum............

Thanks Everybody. I kind of thought this pic might do well. It's a great location - but not without its challenges. The pic was taken from the observation lounge of Tokyo Tower. It's through glass - which poses all sorts of reflection problems. To make things more difficult there is a "no tripods" rule - so the Olympus Image Stabilisation is a real winner. Solving the reflection problems required a bit of ingenuity with a black t-shirt! This was a good challenge with a lot of really good entries.

Congratulations Tomryan99, I felt it was the winner the minute I saw it.
But yet, it took me so long before I could pick of my favorites from the many quality images submitted in this challenge.
It is nice to see so many participating. One of the things I look forward to the most is reading Mark's comments after the ribbons have been distributed. Your critique of each photo is so good as you point out many of the attributes of each entry. You make everyone feel like a winner.
Thank you all for your continued support,
LORELL

A very nice set of entries and some serious competition.
Thanks for all the votes as I am surprised it did so well as B&W is not for everyone.
