E-Group Monthly Photo Challenge February 2026, subject: Nostalgia....Results

1st....090657.. .… Ah, the good old days 9 votes

        2nd....Gerry...... . .Crackle and clicks 8 votes

        3rd=...Bikie John....The way we were 7 votes

3rd=…..Geoff... ....The Roaring Fire 7 votes

So, Congratulations to 090657 with a very nostalgic view on the delightful old steam engines. A great shot, and full steam ahead Tim...

In 2nd place, Gerry dug up old memories of the swing sixties and on, a great subject for nostalgia. Well done Gerry.

In 3rd place equal, Bikie John reminded us of our origins, with a view on those excellent Olympus cameras, and rolls of film. Thanks John. And Geoff's The Roaring Fire certainly warmed us up, coal fires do bring memories, of the smell and smoke!

Well done all four winners for the February Challenge. Points will go towards the E-Group Photographer of the year.

4th place goes to shenstone with his Not gone, but morphed into something new! Good to see the Olympus name being still around. A well treated sepia photo, grain and all. Nice one, Andy..

In 5th place, Lady G's Dad's Army brings some great memories back. The characters and the J Jones van are so good. A classic, Carol...

6th place equal, Tram's Old Platform certainly brings back memories of those cold wintry waits for the trail to turn up. Very nostalgic.. Also, IainMacD's Old Boiler Riveting going to rust is an interesting view of old technology moving to an artistic mode. Well seen Iain...

7th place equal goes to rchammer and The Time We Shared. A very well built boxer, with whom I have no argument with, especially with the initials on his waistband, with the old watch keeping the time. And MJ224 crept in with the Old Kodak folding camera. Still in working order from the pre-war years.

in 8th place, wornish….Made by me at school in Woodwork classes over 60 years ago, shows off his wood working skills and well as his photographic skills. Do you still use it for your boiled egg breakfast's, Dave? Also in 8th place, PeterG brings back his Steam memories. I can hear those brakes squealing, as the train stops. Great photo, Peter

Runners up this month include JohGG with his old Bentley, jaqui with her Lancaster bomber model, ronidog remembering summer, and blu-by-u watching a colourful Lion Dance.

All in all, a great Challenge, some super photos there.

Stats include, 16 submissions, and 20 voters with 52 individual votes.

And thanks for supporting the E-Group forum with these submissions. Well done all.

Congrats to the winners and thanks to everybody for a great and varied collection of photos. It is always interesting to see the wildly different ways that everybody interprets the themes.

And thanks as always to Mark MJ224 for doing the donkey-work to keep us on the straight and narrow!

There were some excellent interpretations of the subject here that made voting extremely difficult. Congratulations to 090657, and thanks to those who participated and to those who voted for the entries.
As always special thanks to Mark for the work.
